YOUNGSTOWN

Greater Friendship church, in collaboration with St. John Episcopal Church, will give away clothing, school supplies, hats and gowns, plus hot dogs and ice cream, from 1 to 3 p.m. next Saturday in the church parking lot at 646 Lakewood Ave.

Miracle service

CANFIELD

Joan Hunter will conduct a Miracle Service at 7 p.m. Aug. 17, and at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 18, at Lifecare Ministry Center, 5357 S. Raccoon Road, Canfield.

Hunter has ministered around the world at Healing Explosions for more than 30 years. When she ministers, the lame walk, the deaf hear and the blind see as confirmed by numerous testimonies.

Prayer and healing

HERMITAGE, PA.

Central Christian Church, 218 Meadowbrook Road, will have a time of prayer and healing at 6:30 p.m. July 24.

There will be prayer, laying on of hands, communion and quiet reflection.

Baptist Convention

YOUNGSTOWN

The Ohio Baptist General Convention Congress of Christian Education will mark its 120th annual session opening program at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Community choirs and dance groups from Warren and Youngstown will provide the music ministry under the direction of Pastor Todd Johnson and Kelan Haynes.

It has been the objective of the convention to give witness to the saving grace of Jesus Christ, to promote the programs and projects of the Baptist churches in Ohio, to promote Christian fellowship and goodwill among member churches and conventions and to organize and promote Christian education, missionary, laymen brotherhood and youth movements.

The convention is made up of more than 130 churches.

Corbin to speak

The First Friday Club luncheon series will present Brian Corbin, senior vice president of social policy for Catholic Charities USA, at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 4 at Antone’s Banquet Centre on Market Street.

Corbin will speak on “The Year of Mercy and the Call to Work for Justice and Charity.”

Kenyan speaker

BOARDMAN

Reverend Chrispinus Okumu, of Nairobi, Kenya, will be the guest speaker at the Youngstown chapter of Igniting New Life Ministries meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Elton Beard cabin in Boardman Park, 375 Boardman-Poland Road.

All are welcome.

Rev. Okumu graduated from East Africa’s School of Theology (Assemblies of God) in 1984.

Although he was raised as a Muslim, he made Jesus Lord of his life.

His testimony tells of how he was rejected and cast out by his family and friends. He withstood many trials and tests, but he stood firm on God’s Word. As a result, God worked many miracles for him.

Quartet concert

The Gloryway Quartet will give a concert at 6:30 p.m. tonight at New Covenant Worship Center, 1900 Canfield Road.
