OVI checkpoints in Youngstown, Austintown planned for tonight


YOUNGSTOWN — City police, in conjunction with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, will conduct a sobriety checkpoint from 9:30 p.m. tonight until 2 a.m. Saturday at Mahoning and Belle Vista avenues on the West Side.

Officers also will patrol the surrounding area to intercept impaired drivers.

Another checkpoint, conducted by the Mahoning County Operating a Vehicle while Impaired Task Force with OSHP, will take place from 10 tonight to 2 a.m. Saturday at 1051 S. Raccoon Road in Austintown.

The task force also will have an OVI checkpoint set up at 4545 New Road in Austintown from 1 to 3 a.m. Saturday.

There will be various saturation patrols throughout the county over the weekend as well, the task force announced.
