WARREN

Keoni L. Walker II, 29, of Spruce Trail Southwest, is in the Trumbull County Jail, charged with possessing materials used to manufacture methamphetamine.

The charges resulted after a woman came running from an apartment on Fifth Street Southwest early Thursday, saying that Walker was “making meth in the apartment.”

Walker was arraigned this morning on the felony charge in Warren Municipal Court. A not-guilty plea was entered, and bond was set at $15,000.

Two Warren police officers working a side job at the Hampshire House Apartments said a woman approached them at 3:50 a.m., telling them about the drugs and the children being nearby.

The officers walked to the apartment at 1208 Fifth St. SW and found Walker in the parking lot. He was detained as police checked a garbage receptacle and found a back pack inside that another woman told police she put there to “get rid of it.”

The first woman said Walker had been shaking a bottle in the apartment near two infants.

Police and firefighters removed the two infants and their mother from the apartment and placed them in an ambulance. They were later taken to St. Joseph Warren Hospital for treatment of possible contamination from the chemicals.

They and Walker were decontaminated before being removed from the scene, police said.

Two investigators entered the home in hazardous-materials clothing to investigate.
