Urban Farms & Gardens Summer Tour Series

When: Monday, 6 to 8 p.m.

What: Join us on a site visit to ask questions and learn about growing vegetables. You’ll get personal answers and gain new skills through hands-on demonstrations.

(NEARLY) FULL MOON NIGHT HIKE

When: Monday, 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.

What: Walk the trails to the east end of the nature preserve to see the rising moon.

Where: Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center Visitors Center, 16146 Daniel St. NE, Minerva.

Cost: Free

Details: Bring a flashlight, insect repellent and water. Registration required. Best for age 10 to adult.

What: Discover the joy in the blossoming summer at Fellows Riverside Gardens with one of our knowledgeable staff members.

BUTTERFLIES & DRAGONFLIES

When: July 23, 9 to 11:30 a.m.

What: While many insects are abundant in summer, some of the most conspicuous are butterflies and dragonflies. Similar to viewing birds, butterflies and dragonflies can often be readily identified by sight using binoculars. Learn about their life cycles, habitat requirements, and how to identify these eye-pleasing insects. A walk will be included as part of the program.
