Job-skills workshop

YOUNGSTOWN

YWCA of Youngstown is offering a three-week job-skills workshop beginning Tuesday. Topics covered will include career assessment and exploration, resume writing and interviewing, job stability, maintaining a job and financial literacy.

Sessions are from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays through Fridays through Aug. 5. Participants who attend all sessions will receive a $100 incentive. An additional $50 incentive is available during follow-up sessions.

Record ticket sales

VIENNA

The Great Lakes JetExpress service between Chicago O’Hare International Airport and the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport set a daily record Tuesday with its ticket sales. On that day, ticket sales surpassed the $7,000 mark at $7,085. The service needs to reach $8,500 per day for it to turn a profit, local airport officials said.

Casino operators fined

HARRISBURG

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on Wednesday levied fines totaling $30,000 against two casino operators for various violations.

The fines were the result of board approvals of consent agreements between the PGCB’s Office of Enforcement Counsel and Chester Downs and Marina LLC, operator of the Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack in Delaware County, which was fined $20,000 for violations of its internal controls, and Valley Forge Convention Center Partners, LP, operator of the Valley Forge Casino Resort in Montgomery County, which was fined $10,000 for an underage gaming violation.

Amazon’s 2nd Prime Day tops 1st year’s

NEW YORK

Amazon’s big sales day is here to stay.

Amazon says Prime Day orders rose 60 percent globally this year versus last year’s inaugural showing. It says sales of Amazon’s own electronic devices were particularly strong. The company says that this won’t be the last “Prime Day.”

“After yesterday’s results, we’ll definitely be doing this again,” Greg Greeley, Amazon Prime vice president, said Wednesday.
