Boardman police raid spa suspected of prostitution activities
BOARDMAN
A search related to a prostitution investigation at a township business led police to make an arrest at Tuina Spa, 5600 Market St., according to a police report.
Liao Xiuhua, 59, whose listed address is the same as the spa’s, is charged with misdemeanor prostitution and felony promoting prostitution after her arrest Tuesday afternoon. She is scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court here Thursday.
Through an interpreter, Xiuhua reportedly told police that she traveled to the U.S. from her home in China this week to answer an advertisement looking for a spa worker.
An unidentified customer also reported to police that he had paid Xiuhua $100 for her to perform a sex act during a massage.
“Xiuhua claimed she had no idea who her boss is,” the police report states.
She reportedly told police she had taken a bus from the airport to the spa, and had not met anyone since arriving to the U.S.
Police found numerous personal effects, including a Chinese passport in Xiuhua’s name, in the spa that indicated she was living there.
Police also spoke with the building’s landlord, who reportedly claimed to be unaware of any criminal activity and of who worked at the spa.
Xiuhua is in the Mahoning County jail.
