The Ohio Department of Transportation closed two Interstate 80 ramps in Austintown on Monday evening.

According to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner ramps closed are: I-80 eastbound to U.S. Route 422; state Route 11 southbound to I-80 eastbound; state Route 46 to I-80 eastbound; and 422 to I-80 westbound.

The ramps from state Route 711 northbound to I-80 eastbound and I-80 eastbound to 11 northbound will close tonight. The $91.2 million project will add one lane of traffic in each direction on I-80.

Ex-nursing home employee sentenced

A former nursing-home employee was sentenced Monday for sexually assaulting an elderly patient.

21-WFMJ TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, reports Gilbert Macali of Warren, 27, was sentenced to the maximum five years’ probation.

Macali had pleaded guilty to gross sexual imposition in April. The sentence, handed down by Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge Krichbaum, also stipulates that Macali register as a sexual offender, go through an intensive treatment program, and have no contact with the victim’s family.

Macali was arrested in September 2015 after investigators found he assaulted a 93-year-old woman who resided at the Camelot Arms Nursing and Rehab Center. The incident was reported by a nurse at the center, where Macali used to be employed.

Bar owner issued citation for loud music

YOUNGSTOWN

The owner of a South Side bar was issued a citation Saturday for playing loud music.

Reports said officers were called about 1:45 a.m. to El Patron, 1329 E. Indianola Ave. Police had issued the owner, Paula Laviena-DeJesus, 54, a citation for loud music March 29, and they had received more than 10 complaints about loud music over the past three months.

Reports said officers parked two houses down from the bar on Cooper Street, and the music was clearly audible.
