Labor problems, bankruptcy of GM supplier threatening North American assembly plants

The Detroit News reported this afternoon that a contract dispute and bankruptcy filing by GM supplier Clark-Cutler-McDermott Co. is threatening to close all North American assembly plants.

Clark-Cutler-McDermott is General Motors' only supplier of acoustic insulation and interior trim parts, the News reported.

That company stopped producing parts for GM Friday and furloughed its workforce, according to the report.

The impact on the Lordstown assembly plant is unknown at this time.
