Alzheimer's kick-off party set in park
BOARDMAN
More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, including more than 3,400 in Mahoning County. To raise awareness of the disease and register teams for the upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer’s, the Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter is kicking off walk season from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. July 18 at the Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Park, 375 Boardman Poland Road.
The kickoff party is free and open to public, and will include light refreshments. Attendees will learn how to start and register their team, meet and socialize with other teams, and discuss successful strategies for the 2016 Mahoning Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which is scheduled for Oct. 8 at the Watson Tressel Training Site at Youngstown State University, 651 Elm St., Youngstown.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is presented locally by Briarfield Heathcare. To start a team, or get additional information on the Walk to End Alzheimer’s or the kickoff party, contact Helen Paes at hpaes@alz.org or 330-533-3300. Additional information is available at alz.org/walk.
