Patrol: OVI-related crashes decline in Mahoning County
YOUNGSTOWN Lt. Jared Sutton of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said there has been a decrease of OVI-related crashes in 2016 compared with last year.
According to OSHP data for Mahoning County, from Jan. 1 to June 15, 2015, there were 31 substantial crashes related to operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Between the same dates this year, there have been 19.
Scott Weamer, Canfield assistant police chief, said outside of some anomalies, the trend in OVI-related crashes has been on a steady decline for a number of years.
