Alzheimer's to host kick-off party

Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter is kicking off walk season with a party for new and returning participants from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Vernon’s Cafe, 720 Youngstown-Warren Road.

The party is free and open to the public and will include light refreshments. There will be an opportunity to learn how to start, meet and register teams, and also to learn about successful fundraising strategies for the 2016 Trumbull County Walk to End Alzheimer’s, set for Sept. 17 at a new location, Kent State University Trumbull, 4314 Mahoning Ave., Champion.

The chapter makes programs and services available to individuals and families. About 5,800 people in Trumbull County have the disease.
