The Mahoning Valley Young Professionals, in partnership with the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, recently announced that nominations are being accepted for the 2016-17 25 Under 35 Awards. The 25 Under 35 Awards is in its fourth year. The awards program honors the Mahoning Valley’s best and brightest young professionals.

Nominees must be between age 21 and 35 and may not exceed 35 on Aug. 15 this year. Nominees must live and/or work primarily in Columbiana, Mahoning or Trumbull counties.

Employee layoffs

YOUNGSTOWN

Parker Hannifin recently sent required notification to the city of Youngstown and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services of the next set of layoffs at its closing gear-pump plant at 2701 Intertech Dr.

The company is required to send notification of layoffs through the Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, also known as WARN.

Between Aug. 17 and Sept. 2, 12 employees will be laid off. All 137 affected employees will be laid off by April 30, 2017.

Manufacturing event

An upcoming Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network event on additive manufacturing will be hosted at America Makes, 236 W. Boardman St. The event, from 9 to 10 a.m. Aug. 2, will focus on the state of additive manufacturing.

The free event will discuss the additive manufacturing resources available in Northeast Ohio and how these technologies can positively impact the bottom line through production efficiencies, reduction in time to market and market development opportunities.

Leadership seminar

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have its second “Laws of Leadership” seminar from 7:30 to 9 a.m. July 27 at the Holiday Inn in Boardman, 7410 South Ave.

John C. Maxwell’s “21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” is a best-selling book published 18 years ago that combines insights from his 40-plus years of leadership successes and mistakes with observations from the worlds of business, politics, sports, religion and the military. Leaders from the Mahoning Valley will focus on one law each and share personal stories that teach the principles of that law.
