‘Cow Appreciation Day’ at Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A’s “Cow Appreciation Day” will take place from opening until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

To make the award more consistent for all, anyone wearing anything cowlike will receive a free entree from Chick-fil-A.

Guests in cow attire may select any breakfast, lunch or dinner entree.

Kids dressed like a cow may select a kid’s meal.

ALDI to reopen store in Warren

ALDI will soon reopen its Warren-area store at 2425 Niles-Cortland Road SE. To celebrate the opening of the newly remodeled Warren store, ALDI will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m. July 21.

After the ceremony, the first 100 shoppers will receive a golden ticket, each containing ALDI gift certificates of varying amounts.

Customers also can tour the store, sample ALDI products and enter an on-site sweepstakes for a chance to win a one-year’s supply of ALDI produce.

Alcoa opens facility

PITTSBURGH

Lightweight metals leader Alcoa has opened its state-of-the-art, 3-D printing metal powder production facility. Located at the Alcoa Technology Center, the world’s largest light-metals research center in Pittsburgh, the company will produce proprietary titanium, nickel and aluminum powders optimized for 3-D printed aerospace parts. Alcoa also has invested in a range of technologies to further develop and qualification.

Metal powders used for 3-D printing durable, high-quality aerospace parts are available in limited quantities. Through this expansion, announced in September 2015, Alcoa will develop materials with the specific properties needed to 3-D print high-performance components.

First death related to Zika virus seen in continental US

SALT LAKE CITY

A person infected with Zika has died in Utah, and though the exact cause is unclear, authorities said Friday it marks the first death related to the virus in the continental U.S.

The unidentified Salt Lake County resident contracted the virus while traveling abroad to an area with a Zika outbreak, health officials said.

The patient who died in late June was elderly and also suffered from another health condition, according to the Salt Lake County Health Department.

N. Korea test-fires submarine-launched missile, Seoul says

SEOUL, South Korea

South Korea said that North Korea test-fired what appeared to be a submarine-launched ballistic missile off its eastern coast today.

The missile was fired from a location near the North Korean coastal town of Sinpo, where analysts previously have detected efforts by the North to develop submarine-launched ballistic missile systems, said an official from Seoul’s Defense Ministry, who didn’t want to be named, citing office rules.
