Youngstown schools' new CEO hires competitor as consultant

YOUNGSTOWN

About a month ago, Krish Mohip and Tyrone Olverson were competing for the same job.

Now, they’re working together.

Both men were finalists for the city schools chief executive officer job. The academic distress commission selected Mohip, from Chicago, and he started in the position last week.

Olverson, former superintendent of the Finneytown Schools near Cincinnati, is working as a consultant. He’s being paid $525 per day, for up to 15 days.

“There’s so much work that needs to be done,” Mohip said. Olverson “has a strong background in academics.”

Mohip expects some changes in the central office structure.
