Tony Bennett falls ill, cancels appearance at Butler

YOUNGSTOWN

Singer-artist Tony Bennett and Charles Reid have canceled their trip to the Butler Institute of American Art, where they were to attend a members-only opening reception for their joint exhibition “Tony Bennett & Charles Reid: Two Painters.”

Bennett, who has fallen ill with the flu, also had to cancel his Saturday night concert at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh. His colleague, artist Charles Reid, who was to travel with Bennett, is also under the weather.

This evening’s exhibition preview event for members at the Butler will take place as planned, though the artists will not be in attendance. Members with reservations for the event have been notified of the change individually by phone and/or email. Those still needing to make changes to their reservations can do so before this evening’s event by phoning 330-743-1107, ext. 210.

The exhibition, “Tony Bennett & Charles Reid: Two Painters,” will be on view at the Butler through Sept. 11.
