Fifth-grade students at Canfield Village Middle School were fired up and ready to play some games at the school’s annual Field Day on May 27.

With the students split up into nine teams competing against each other, physical education teachers Bob Tinkey and Caitlyn Carver had several games and relays organized for the students. Carver kept score throughout the competition to determine the winning team.

Each team was assigned a team color and team members wore that color T-shirts to show team unity.

Teams were split into boys and girls and then Tinkey had the students participate in such games as the over-the-shoulder ball toss, hula hoop relay, scoop ball relay, ball under the chin relay, ball between knees relay, wall toss, and finally, tug-of-war.

After the final scores were tallied, Tinkey counted down where each team placed, pausing for cheers from each class. He finally declared Valerie Weingart’s team the champion, with the announcement barely audible above the cheers from the students who were ecstatic about their first place win.
