Pretrial set for teen of accused of complicity to attempted armed robbery in Struthers
STRUTHERS
A Struthers teen will appear July 13 in Struthers Municipal Court for a pretrial hearing after allegedly driving a car connected to an attempted armed robbery.
Shamar Gilmore, 19, was arraigned Wednesday on a felony complicity to aggravated robbery charge. A judge set his bond at $25,000.
Officers responded to Overlook Boulevard about 4:45 a.m. Sunday. A 19-year-old Struthers man told police he had been sitting on his porch with his girlfriend when a teenager approached them with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money. The alleged victim reported the teen ran away on foot after being told the couple did not have any money.
Police questioned a juvenile male alleged to have held the gun and demanded money. They also questioned another juvenile male who is alleged to have kept “look-out” at the time of the incident. Officers arrested the pair about 10 p.m. Sunday on charges of attempted aggravated robbery and transported the teenagers to the Juvenile Justice Center.
Though the alleged victim initially told police the robbery did not involve a drug deal, a police report states, he later admitted to officers he had asked to buy marijuana from one of the teens.
Police reviewed text messages in connection with the incident.
A police report states Gilmore told officers he had been driving the two juveniles around the day of the incident, but that he did not know an attempted robbery would take place.
