Bar association honors lawyers

Magistrate Richard N. White of Mahoning County Juvenile Court and Alan Kretzer, a Youngstown lawyer, received distinguished service awards recently at the annual Mahoning County Bar Association election banquet.

The award is given to lawyers or judges who have provided exemplary service to the association or the community at large.

Atty. Robert J. Christian was recognized as association president for the coming year.

Atty. Tracie L. Schmidt was elected president-elect and will become president for a one-year term beginning in the summer of 2017.

Attys. Dean F. Ferris and Myron J. Regenstreich were honored for 65 years as lawyers.

Attys. Daniel B. Roth and Donald E. Tucker were honored for 60 years in the legal profession.

Honored for 55 years as lawyers were Dale E. Bricker, Peter B. Grinstein, David K. Holmquist and Joseph W. Maxin.

Recognized for 50 years in the legal profession were Attys. John C. Boyd, Michael S. Harshman, Carmen A. Policy and Frank Savoldi.

Magistrate Dominic DeLaurentis of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court and Attys. Ryan D. Ingram and J. Michael Thompson were elected to three-year terms as association trustees; and Atty. Corey J. Grimm was elected to a two-year term as a trustee designated for a lawyer who has been practicing for less than five years.

Atty. Eric Johnson, a Mahoning County Bar Association Foundation member, announced that the foundation awarded 12 scholarships totaling $18,500 to law students this year.

The banquet took place last week at the Youngstown Country Club.
