Ice cream social to be part of festival


NEW CASTLE, PA.

Ice cream, cake, a WWI exhibit and a children’s program will take place at the Lawrence County Historical Society’s annual ice cream social Saturday during the annual fireworks festival taking place in downtown New Castle. The Historical society is located at 408 N. Jefferson St.

A children’s program will be in the Medure Annex building at 7 p.m. with Jim Schneider speaking to children 5 and older about the history of Native American Indians. Artifacts will be on display, and children can make an Apache arrowhead necklace.

Visitors can view a new World War I exhibit and cake and ice cream will be served at 8 p.m. on the front porch of the Clavelli History Center.

Free tours of the museum also will be available until the fireworks at 10 p.m.
