House destroyed, neighboring homes damaged by fire


YOUNGSTOWN — Fire reports said a vacant 408 Canton St. home burned to the ground early Wednesday morning.

Crews were called about 1:50 a.m. by a neighbor who said the home next his was on fire. When firefighters arrived the flames were so intense they used a ladder truck to protect neighboring homes while other firefighters worked to put the fire out.

Two homes sustained heat and smoke damage.

Damage is listed at $5,200. There were no injuries.
