Dynamite thrown onto Market Street

A man was arrested and issued several citations after throwing lighted dynamite out of a car on Market Street near Williamson Avenue, city police report.

According to their report, officers observed driver Courtney Reynolds, 33, of Gypsy Lane, throw a quarter stick of dynamite out of his car window while driving past Jordan’s Market on Market Street.

Upon their investigation, officers determined Reynolds was intoxicated and driving on a suspended license, reports said.

Officers issued Reynolds citations for knowingly possessing and discharging fireworks, driving with a suspended licence and operating a vehicle impaired.

Campus director

Rose Kratz has been appointed the new campus director of American National University’s Youngs-town Campus. Kratz has more than 12 years of experience in educational directing and campus admissions; holding positions as executive director, director of education partners and business, campus director and director of admissions.

Kratz has a bachelor’s of degree in marketing, as well as a master’s degree in science organizational leadership in leadership and management, both from Regis University.

Elderly in Crisis aid

The Episcopal Diocese of Ohio awarded a $13,000 grant to Protestant Family Service for its Aid to the Elderly in Crisis program.

Adults 60 years and older can be assisted with emergency service now through June 2017 or until funds are depleted.

PFS’s guidelines will be followed to access and evaluate each case. Clients receiving assistance will be required to attend an educational class on utility conservation and budgeting. Clients must provide proof of eligibility.

Clients who received monetary aid from a previous Elderly in Crisis grant are not eligible. Calls can be made from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. To make an appointment, call 330-746-4600. No walk-ins will be accepted.

‘A Better Warren’

WARREN

Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership is a host site for a team of volunteers this summer from the National Civilian Community Corps to assist in a “Building A Better Warren” effort, a partnership between TNP and the Trumbull County Land Reutilization Corp. to renovate houses and create home ownership opportunities in the city.

The program entails eight trained volunteers working 40 hours per week for six weeks to perform renovations on five TCLRC-owned vacant homes and prepare them for home ownership.
