Summer camps

SANDY LAKE, PA.

McKeever Environmental Learning Center, 55 McKeever Lane, will offer a series of summer camps for children age 5 to 14 designed to connect children with the natural world through play and adventure. The majority of each camp day will be spent in the forest exploring and discovering the natural world.

Nature Day Camp for age 5 to 10 will be July 11-15; Earthkeepers, for age 10 to 11, July 27-29; and Outdoor Adventure, for age 12 to 14, Aug. 1-5. For information, visit www.mckeever.org.

Legacy awards

The Valley Legacy Awards, which recognize outstanding seniors and senior advocates from Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, is seeking nominations for honorees 60 and older for a lifetime of working to improve the Mahoning Valley, and individuals who have provided exceptional support to and for older Americans through their professional, volunteer or civic roles. Honorees will be recognized at the annual luncheon Oct. 5. March against crime

The National Night Out March Against Crime will take place Aug. 2 at Wick Park on the city’s North Side.

Competent for trial

MERCER

A Greenville woman accused of murdering her husband outside Sharon Regional Health System in 2015 has been found competent to stand trial. According to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, Mercer County District Atty. Miles Karson said Amy Emmett, 46, is no longer a danger to herself or others. Police said Emmett shot and killed William Emmett, 45, and tried to shoot herself in late July 2015. She was arraigned in August on charges of first- and third-degree murder, then was taken to Torrance State Hospital. She is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 17.
