WARREN

Second Baptist Church, 1510 Main Ave. SW, will feature U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge, D-11th, as guest speaker for the annual Men & Women’s Day Service at 10:15 a.m. July 10 on the theme, “God is Seeking to Restore Hope in Ordinary People.”

First elected in 2008, Rep. Fudge serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. She is the ranking member on the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education. She is also a member of several Congressional Caucuses and immediate past chairwoman of Congressional Black Caucus. In 2014, Rep. Fudge became an original co-chairwoman of Democrats for Public Education

Community members and elected officials are invited.

Celebrating 100 years this November, Second Baptist Church, known as “A House of Hope,” has been a center of spiritual development and community building on the Southwest side of Warren since its inception. The church has renewed its focus on community outreach under the leadership of pastor, the Rev. Todd A. Johnson.

Now Creations will host its monthly Music, Message, and Meditation service from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the Ursuline Center auditorium, 4280 Shields Road.

Music will be presented by Maureen Collins, a message by Vince Lisi and meditation by Bob Cene, Jr.

Revival planned

NEW CASTLE, PA.

Beaver Valley District Church of God in Christ will conduct a revival at 7 p.m. July 13 to 15 at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, 1701 Moravia St., where Gary Clark is pastor.

Special guest will be Barbara Jackson, supervisor of women in Ohio West Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction COGIC.

Fatima statue

GIRARD

Our Lady of Sorrows Chapel, 525 Lawrence Ave., will host the Our Lady of Fatima Pilgrim Statue this weekend.

There will be a special mission and votive Masses at 9 a.m. today and 3 p.m. Sunday.

In 1917, the Blessed Virgin appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portgual, and delivered three secrets.

In 2014, the the U.S. District of the Society of St. Pius commissioned a special statue of Our Lady of Fatima. The statue is a faithful representation of the description of Our Lady by Sister Lucy Santos, the oldest of the three children. The statue has been displayed at chapels, churches and schools to renew a spirit of prayer and sacrifice.

Unity Centre for Spiritual Living, 1226 Naylor-Lloyd Road, will conduct a pranic healing workshop from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. July 10 with Carol Gottesman.

Pranic healing is an energy-medicine system developed by Grand Master Choa Kok Sui. The no-touch energy healing is based on the idea that the body is a self-repairing entity.

The International Student Union at Ohio University is planning an Interfaith Meditation Room in the fall semester.

ISU at OU claims to unite “member organizations representing many countries, cultures and causes from around the globe.” It is an umbrella organization for 23 international organizations at OU and its members represent “collective educational, cultural, and developmental interests of over 100 countries.”
