Boardman man faces drugs, weapons charges after Thursday accident

BOARDMAN — A Boardman man faces drug and weapons charges after an accident Thursday night.

Police arrived to the scene of an accident on Shields Road at Sheban Drive about 11 p.m. with two vehicles on the side of the road.

One vehicle was reportedly preventing another from fleeing the scene after it rear ended the other.

Police attempted to move the suspect, later identified as George Huston, 41, of Glenwood Avenue, away from the other vehicle. After smelling marijuana and alcohol, officers searched him and his car.

The search revealed a number of prescription drugs, a rifle and 45 loose rounds. Huston refused to take sobriety tests and was arrested. He faces charges for operating a vehicle while impaired, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, drug possession and having weapons while under disability.

He posted his $11,000 bond through ACME bail bonds. Huston will be in court at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
