YWCA offers tax aid

YOUNGSTOWN

The YWCA of Youngstown will offer free income-tax-filing services in February, March and April.

The YWCA has a self-serve link to file taxes: selfserve.thebenefitbank.org/ums?task=login&partner_code=2497>.

To file taxes with this link, the following information is needed: the household income of under $65,000 for a single person and $95,000 for a married couple; Social Security numbers; W2s, 1099s, 1098s; information about income; deduction and credit information; and a copy of last year’s tax return, if you have it.

The YWCA can help you e-file or paper file for free. Appointments are required except on these walk-in days: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10 and 19; March 4, 9, 18 and 23; and April 1, 6, 13 and 15. There’s a tax clinic from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 20.

Grant for MCCTC

CANFIELD

The Mahoning Valley Career and Technical Center in Canfield recently received the $16,500 Advanced Career Pathways Grant for Clean Energy Technology for the 2016-17 school year.

The grant is provided by the Ohio Department of Education and the Southern Regional Education Board’s High Schools That Work.

Advanced Career Pathways combines college-ready core academic content with hands-on, project-based assignments.

The grant money will go toward new equipment purchases and professional development for staff and Clean Energy Technology curriculum for the new ninth- and 10th-grade Science, Technology, Engineering and Math school opening in the 2016-17 school year.

ATHENA nominations

HERMITAGE, Pa.

Nominations for the third-annual Lawrence/Mercer County ATHENA Leadership Award, the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award and the Lawrence/Mercer County ATHENA Organizational Leadership Award are being accepted by the Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio.

Nominations are due by March 15.

ATHENA Leadership Awards honor those individuals who achieved excellence in business, profession or community service; served the community in a meaningful way; and have assisted women in their attainment of professional goals and leadership skills.

The ATHENA Awards will be presented April 19 at Park Inn by Radisson in West Middlesex, Pa.

Cruze on display

PITTSBURGH

The Lordstown-built, next-generation Chevrolet Cruze will be on display at the Pittsburgh International Auto Show from Feb. 12 through 15 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, 1000 Fort Duquesne Blvd.
