SCOUTS

Eagle Award

Matthew J. Bodnark, son of John and Mary Ann Bodnark, has earned his Eagle Scout award. He is a member of Troop 184 of St. Joseph Church in Austintown.

For his Eagle Scout service project, he provided service to the Hospice House of the Valley, directing a work team in landscaping a 450-square-foot memorial area dedicated for prayer and relaxation for residents and visitors to the facility. The area displays a statue of St. Francis mounted on a stone pedestal framed by a flower-covered arbor with a mulch-covered ground and a seating area.

Donations for the project were provided by Elliott’s Garden Center, Excel Lawn Care and Bodnark’s troop.

Bodnark was a member of Cub Scout Pack 184 before becoming a Boy Scout of Troop 184. He has earned 26 merit badges and has served in the positions of troop historian, librarian, den chief and Web Master.

Bodnark, a freshman at Austintown Fitch High School, is the youngest Scout in his troop to earn the Eagle award. He also is active with his church’s youth group, enjoys computer animation and playing bass guitar.
