Youngstown store clerk assaulted by shoplifter

YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said a clerk at an East Side store Thursday was knocked down by a shoplifter and had her face stomped.

Police were called to Dollar General, 2896 McCartney Road, just after 1 p.m., where an employee said she confronted a woman who was trying to take items out of the store and told her to drop them.

The woman then knocked the employee down, stomped her face and ran to a waiting car, reports said.

Reports said one side of the victim's face was swollen and she had lumps on her forehead and the back of her head.

The victim did seek medical treatment, reports said.
