Former Mahoning County temp worker indicted

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

A Mahoning County grand jury indicted a Youngstown man, who was a temporary worker in the county treasurer’s office, on charges of theft, theft in office and one count of forgery.

The man charged is Kyheem Underwood, 18, of Maplewood Court. According to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, Underwood is accused of using his position in the office to commit the crimes.

County Treasurer Dan Yemma told the TV station in December that Underwood attempted to cash a tax-payment check for more than $3,000. That case was settled in November.

The case, however, prompted further investigation into Underwood’s purported activities, which resulted in new charges.
