Kimble given time to appeal order on commission appointment
YOUNGSTOWN
Judge Lou D'Apolito of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court has granted Youngstown school board president Brenda Kimble a partial stay on his order to appoint someone else to the district's academic distress commission.
She had sought a stay as his ruling from earlier this week is appealed to the 7th District Court of Appeals. He has ordered her to name someone other than Carol Staten to the commission, saying she does not meet the definition of an active teacher in the school district.
Kimble disagrees. The stay issued today, however, will not allow her to appoint Staten now, nor will it allow the new commission to meet.
