Canfield High School “Hall of Fame” dinner
The Canfield High School Athletic ‘Hall of Fame’ is gaining new inductees. Sixteen members have been selected and will be added to the Class of 2016. The inductees were honored Jan. 23 at The Embassy banquet facility. The featured guest speaker was Ken Krebs, CHS ’77. Krebs earned Phi Beta Kappa honor society membership as an undergraduate at Cornell University and graduated from the Duke University School of Law where he was a Reynolds Scholar. A founding partner of the highly-successful Columbus-based Rockbridge private equity firm, Krebs and his wife have been very active in a host of civic and charitable endeavors in central Ohio. The 2016 Hall of Fame inductees are Holly Coleman-Heikkinen (CHS ’98 - volleyball and basketball), Kevin Culp (CHS ’99 - basketball and baseball), Larry Davis (coach/contributor), Marty Fitzgerald (CHS ’90 - golf and baseball), Jerry Hickman (CHS ’78 - football, golf, basketball and baseball), Tom James (CHS ’65 - football and track), Jason Kemble (CHS ’97 - football, basketball and track), Ray McCune, Jr. (CHS ’90 - basketball), Amy Majernik-Herrmann (CHS ’89 - volleyball, swimming and track), Bob Neff (CHS ’35 - football, basketball and track), Scott Pfahler (CHS ’95 - tennis), Matt Pietro (CHS ’04 - football and soccer), Ken Popovec (CHS ’79 - contributor), Tom Porterfield (CHS ’73 - cross country and track), Chad Rosko (CHS ’87 - football, basketball and baseball) and Steve Stanislaw (CHS ’77 - cross country, basketball and baseball)
Canfield students named All Ohio Football honorees
Several Canfield Cardinals receive top honors according the Associated Press. Statewide media panels selected this year’s Associated Press’ 2015 Division III All-Ohio Football Team honorees. Greg Cooper, athletic director congratulated the athletes on this honor. Honorees include: first team All-State, senior Jacob Esarco, linebacker; third team All-State, junior Mason Giordano, lineman; special mention, senior Jack Pallante, lineman; special mention, senior Michael Rusu, defensive back; and special mention, junior Ryan Teminsky, kicker.

Winter sports have begun and Neighbors wants to be there every step of the way. If you’re a sports coach or the parent of an athlete, we need your help. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages. We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in.
