SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Palmy Chapter 114, Order of the Eastern Star, met for a potluck dinner and meeting Jan. 6 when special guests were welcomed and pin awards were presented. Laurie Shaw, left in the first photo below, director of the Back Door Pantry at Palmyra United Methodist Church, was introduced by Worthy Matron Kristy Woodford. Shaw discussed how the pantry feeds individuals in Southeast School District and other nearby communities. The Palmy Chapter has supported the pantry since 2005 with donations of money and non-perishable food items. During the organization’s meeting, Past Matron and Grand Representative of Nevada in Ohio Betty Coss, at left in the last photo, escorted to the Altar of the Chapter room, presented a 50-year pin and gave Grand Honors to Past Matron Marjorie Aemmer. The meeting also marked Aemmer’s 89th birthday. Aemmer and her late husband Warren were initiated on April 20, 1966, and served the chapter as Worthy Matron and Patron, respectively, in 1975. After the Jan. 6 meeting, Anne Cooper, at left in the above photo, presented her husband Joseph Cooper with a 25-year pin; he was escorted by his daughter, Conductress Beth Cooper, right. Joseph Cooper was initiated March 6, 1996. Anne and Joseph Cooper served the chapter as worthy matron and patron in 1995.
