Woman arrested

YOUNGSTOWN

An Austintown woman accused of running down a man in a car and breaking his leg last week was arrested Monday evening on a felonious-assault warrant.

Reports said about 8:30 p.m., officer Jeshaila Dunkle spotted a car driven by Regina Jones, 41, on South Avenue that matched the description of the car used to strike the man on Oak Hill Avenue last Wednesday.

While awaiting backup, Dunkle followed the car to a home on Emery Avenue reports said. A few minutes after the car pulled into the home’s driveway, the car was driven away. Dunkle and officer Michael Burnich stopped the car, but the driver was not Jones, reports said.

Reports said the woman driving the car took them back to her house where Jones was, but Jones would not come out. Officers had to go inside and they found Jones hiding in the basement, reports said.

Jones was taken to the Mahoning County jail and is expected to be arraigned today.
