St. Nicholas School plans open house, teddy-bear sleepover
STRUTHERS
St. Nicholas School, 762 Fifth St., will host an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday for families to speak with the principal, meet the teachers and tour the school and hear the Heavenly Hornets Choir.
There also will be a teddy-bear sleepover. Children may take their teddy bears or other favorite stuffed animal to the open house, then leave them for a night at the school.
Families can watch what the stuffed animals are up to on St. Nicholas School Facebook page. Stuffed animals may be retrieved Monday in the library.

The Moms and Dads Club of the school will sponsor a pasta dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. that day in St. Nicholas Great Hall. Dine-in dinners include pasta with two meatballs, salad, bread and butter, dessert and drink. Carryouts also will be available. Cost is $9 for adults, $6 for children from 6 to 12 years old and free for those 5 and younger.
Snowflake Ball event is set for Saturday

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Epsilon Mu Omega chapter, is sponsoring its annual Black and White Snowflake ball from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at The Embassy, 5030 Youngstown-Poland Road. Cocktails will be served at 6 and dinner at 7. Semi-formal attire is requested.
Cost is $45 and all proceeds will benefit the organization’s scholarship fund and community outreach programs. No tickets will be sold at the door.
Organizers include president Deanna Brown and co-chairwomen Sandra Smith-Graves and Kareem Ash-Holloway.
