SEBRING UPDATE | Sebring schedules another blood lead-screening clinic

SEBRING — The Mahoning County health board has scheduled another blood lead-screening clinic for area residents from birth to 6 and pregnant or breastfeeding women that receive drinking water from the village's water system

The clinic will take place from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the B.L. Miller School,

506 W. Virginia Ave.

This initial screening test is done by a finger-stick and is free. No appointment is necessary. If the initial screening test shows an elevated blood lead level, follow-up testing with a primary-care provider will be required.

This clinic is being conducted in response to the report of elevated levels of lead in drinking water at some locations served by the village.

Lead can cause serious health problems for pregnant women, infants, and children, health board officials say.
