Time for tea event set at Salem library

The program, “Tea & Polite Society, 1900-1920,” will be presented and a light luncheon served during an afternoon tea party from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 11 in the Quaker Room at Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St.
Lea Mollman, registrar at Mahoning Valley Historical Society, will present the program that will cover high society manners as late Victorian strictures relaxed into Edwardian propriety. With pictures, graphics, and original artifacts, learn about the niceties of dress, calling cards and afternoon tea for the elite. Attendees will learn the difference between a formal tea and high tea, what to serve at a tea dance, and how to invite friends to meet a dignitary.
Registration is required for this event designed for an adult audience.
