ROCHESTER

David E. Foltz, 34, of Lockport, N.Y., is in the Monroe County, N.Y., jail on federal warrants related to two New York state bank robberies and is a suspect in Friday’s Citizens Bank robbery in Girard.

New York State Police apprehended Foltz after they discovered him with a disabled car along Interstate 90 in Pomfret, N.Y., at 12:30 a.m. Saturday. Foltz told a trooper he had run out of gas.

Foltz was booked into the Monroe County jail near Rochester at 4:35 a.m. Saturday. Todd Werth, who leads the Youngstown FBI office, confirmed that Foltz is a suspect in the Citizens Bank robbery, in addition to at least one New York bank robbery. The Girard Police Department is the lead agency on the Girard robbery, Werth said. A search of the federal court website indicated no charges had been filed against him as of Monday.

Girard police said a man in his mid-30s walked into the bank at 5:55 p.m. Friday just before closing time, demanded cash from tellers, then left the building, but a dye pack was activated on the stolen cash.

Surveillance cameras were able to capture the suspect on video. Police described him as unkempt with short facial hair, a slim build and about 6-feet to 6-feet-2-inches tall.
