Dr. Patricia DeMarco will discuss “Pathway to a Sustainable Future” in a lecture set for 7 p.m. Wednesday in Room B112, Cushwa Hall, at Youngstown State University. The event is the first in YSU’s energy and the environment lecture series.
DeMarco is a visiting researcher and writer and a native of Pittsburgh. She earned a doctorate in biology from the University of Pittsburgh and has spent a 30-year career in energy and environmental policy in both private and public sector positions.
On Nov. 3, 2015, DeMarco was elected to the Forest Hills Borough Council as an at-large member for a four-year term that began Jan. 4.

Winter Scan set

The Greater Youngstown Monitoring Association Scanner Club will be having its ninth annual Winter Scan at 6 p.m. Feb. 13 at Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St.
Participants are asked to bring any scanners, programmable or crystal, working or not working, for the scan display. Participants should also bring a covered dish or dessert to share for a potluck dinner.

Recognition planned
YOUNGSTOWN
The students of Summit Academy will be recognized for their kindness at two assemblies for parents at 2 p.m. Feb. 4 and 5.
The assemblies are open to the public and designed to celebrate student success.
More than 250 students and parents are expected to attend this event at Summit Academy, a tuition-free nonprofit school for children in kindergarten through 12th grade with ADHD, autism spectrum disorders and related disorders.
