House next to ’M*A*S*H’ Ohio hot dog eatery auctioned
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — A house next to the original Tony Packo’s Cafe made famous on the TV series “M*ASH” has been sold through a bankruptcy auction to the company that now owns the restaurant chain.
The Blade newspaper in Toledo reports the home was owned by Robin Horvath. The former Packo’s executive and grandson of the chain’s founder is in the midst of a forced Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
The home brought $35,000 at auction last month from winning bidder Tony Packo’s Toledo LLC owned by Bennett Management Corp. The corporation bought the chain in 2011 in a sale to resolve the chain’s financial problems.
Tony Packo’s became a household name in the 1970s when actor Jamie Farr portrayed a homesick U.S. soldier in the Korean War who longed for Packo’s hot dogs.
