Cook cleared for Democratic primary ballot as Trumbull commissioner

WARREN — David Cook has been cleared to appear on the ballot March 15 in the Democratic primary to run for Trumbull County commissioner.

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted notifed the Trumbull County Board of Elections today that he has broken the tie vote by the elections board by finding inn favor of Cook, of Warren.

The elections board split 2-2 along party lines at a recent appeal hearing with the Democrats voting to remove Cook from the ballot and the Republicans voting to allow him on the ballot.

The board looked at whether to remove him because Cook had written the number 21 in which a way that it wasn't clear whether it was a 21 or a 20.

Cook is running to unseat incumbent county commissioner Dan Polivka, the Trumbull County Democratic Party chairman.
