YSU schedules financial-aid night

Prospective students and their parents can learn the ins and outs of financial aid at Youngstown State University’s Financial Aid Night at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on campus.

Participants will learn the basics about applying for financial aid, meet YSU financial-aid counselors and get direct assistance with online financial aid applications.

Appointments for free tax-form preparation will be available through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

Farm bureau offers scholarship

ORWELL

High-school seniors and college students are eligible for a scholarship from Mahoning County Farm Bureau. Students may be pursuing a degree in any field, but preference is given to those studying agriculture. Either the student or his/her parent must be a member of the county farm bureau. The Application deadline is March 1. Applications are available from high-school guidance counselors, online at mahfb.com; via Facebook at facebook.com/Mahoningcountyfarmbureau or by calling 440-437-8700.

Scholarships open to college students

STRUTHERS

College students age 18 to 25, who suffer from juvenile diabetes and are seeking a bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution, are eligible for a scholarship through the Thomas J. Seefred Trust. High-school students aren’t eligible. The scholarship, which is up to $3,000 per student, is open to Ohio residents with preference to qualified applicants from Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties. Scholarships will be award based on academic performance, a personal statement, recommendations and financial need. Applications are available at www.seefredtrust.org and must be postmarked by April. Recipients will be notified after July 1.
