National School Choice Week begins today
YOUNGSTOWN — National School Choice Week begins today in Ohio and across the country. There are 719 events planned in the Buckeye State to raise awareness about K-12 school choice and 16,140 events nationwide.
Summit Academy of Youngstown and the Islamic Academy of Youngstown plan events as part of the celebration.
Gov. John Kasich, the mayors of Cleveland, Dayton, and Mansfield and county leaders from Hamilton and Mahoning counties have issued official proclamations recognizing Jan. 24 through Saturday as “School Choice Week.”
“Ohio was one of the first states in America to provide parents with a robust array of education options for kids, and the Buckeye State continues to offer a diverse variety of K-12 education choices for children and families,” said Andrew R. Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “National School Choice Week will shine a positive spotlight on these options so that more parents can learn about the opportunities available to their kids.”
