The Mahoning Valley Sanitary District, along with Eastgate Regional Council of Governments, is inviting all mayors, township trustees and community officials within the Meander Creek Watershed to an informational meeting regarding the Meander Creek Watershed Action Plan.

The meeting will take place at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District, 1181 Ohltown-McDonald Road. Attendees are asked to use the entrance on Salt Springs Road and enter Building 19.

A watershed is an area of land where any water flowing across the land drains to a common point. Activities that take place on land adversely affect water quality.

A watershed action plan documents a watershed’s water-quality conditions and identifies the causes and sources of water-quality impairment.

The plan produces tangible education, restoration, preservation and protection goals, along with best-management practices for communities to implement in order to improve water quality.

The goal of the Meander Creek Watershed Action Plan is to work together toward an environmentally and economically healthy watershed that is beneficial to all local residents, according to an MVSD news release.
