Doctorate

Political economy

Amy Marie Hochadel, formerly of Austintown, recently received her doctorate in international political economy from King’s College London in the United Kingdom. During her time at King’s College, she also received an associateship in theology.

Dr. Hochadel is the daughter of Michael and Diane Alexander of Youngstown and David Hochadel of Cortland. She is a 1992 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, where she participated in speech and debate.

Hochadel also is certified in advanced public diplomacy from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Communication. She has a master’s degree in psychology, specializing in diversity management, from Cleveland State University and a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from Ohio University.

She formerly served as special adviser to presidential and congressional candidates across the United States and for British members of Parliament, including working as a legislative aide to former U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio.

Hochadel is global cities lead at Future Cities Catapult in London, an organization that works with cities around the world to bring innovations that better serve local citizens while opening up new markets for U.K. companies. She works on projects across the United Kingdom, India and the United Arab Emirates.

Hochadel lives in London with her wife, Monica Cunningham. The couple are expecting their first child.
