Kravitz Delicatessen will have a celebration of the business’s founder, the late Rose Kravitz, who would have turned 100 on Friday.

The business will celebrate Rose at the Poland Library location, 311 S. Main St., and the Liberty location at 3135 Belmont Ave. starting Monday through Friday.

The business will remember Rose by bringing back some of her favorite Eastern European recipes such as stuffed cabbage, brisket and chicken mish-mosh soup. The restaurants also will offer Rose’s original bagel for a limited time.

Rose opened her deli, the Elm Street Delicatessen, in 1939.

Grandmaster opens new business

CANFIELD

Sam Naples, a grandmaster in taekwondo, recently opened Strike Fit Self Defense, a new fitness and martial-arts school at 480 S. Broad St.

The school will focus on adult fitness and self-defense that consists of nutrition, flexibility, strength training, resistance training and other lessons. Those interested can contact Naples at 330-501-8599.

Naples is the former owner of Naples’ Family Martial Arts and Master Chun Karate in Boardman and Niles.

Community update at chamber event

AUSTINTOWN

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a Good Morning, Austintown event at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course, 655 N. Canfield-NIles Road, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday.

The speakers at the event will be: Jim Davis, Austintown Township trustee; Vince Colaluca, superintendent of Austintown schools; Martin Solomon, president of B&I Management, operator of the Austintown Plaza; Tim Hilk, chief executive officer of the YMCA of Youngstown; and Michael Galle, vice president and general manager of the facility.

The cost for the event is $20 for chamber members and $30 for nonmembers.

Bank leader will discuss economy

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have an Economic Forecast Breakfast from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Feb. 4 at Mr. Anthony’s, 7440 South Ave.

The chamber will have Jeff Wagner, senior vice president and chief investment officer at First National Bank, at the event to talk about the Mahoning Valley’s economy. Wagner joined FNB Corp. in 1995 and has nearly 30 years of investment management experience.

The chamber’s Economic Development and Workforce/Education Team also will present a new workforce initiative that is designed to help close the gap between the demand for skilled labor and the supply of workforce-ready employees in the Walley.
