Suspect rams OSHP cruiser after chase through 4 Trumbull towns

An attempt by the Ohio State Highway Patrol to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on state Route 45 in Champion resulted in the suspect leading police on a high-speed chase through portions of four communities before he deliberately rammed an patrol cruiser.

According to the OSHP report, the chase started at 10:32 p.m. Friday in Champion, moved into Southington Township where stop sticks were used, flattening the suspect vehicle’s right front tire, but not stopping it. The pursuit continued onto U.S. Route 422, traveling east into Warren Township and then into Warren City, where speeds slowed as the pursuit entered a residential area.

The suspect intentionally rammed a marked OSHP cruiser.
