Open house scheduled at St. Patrick School

St. Patrick School, 38 E. Water St., a Lumen Christi School, will conduct an open house for perspective families for the 2016-17 school year from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Jan. 31. All of those who attend will be registered to win a $500 gift card of their choice.

Perspective families will be able to tour the school, meet teachers to discuss the educational opportunities at the school, and children will be able to participate in activities in each grade. Tina Vince, principal, will help families learn what financial assistance opportunities are avaliable.

The Ed.Choice Scholarship is accepted for students in kindergarten through eighth grades from underperforming public schools, which covers 100 percent of tuition costs and is renewable each year.

The Ed.Choice Expansion Scholarship is available to all incoming kindergarten through third-graders based on family income. The Expansion scholarship also covers 100 percent of tuition costs and is renewable each year.

Bussing to St. Patrick School is avaliable from Youngstown, Liberty, Hubbard, and Brookfield.

YWCA of Youngstown to offer tax services

YOUNGSTOWN

YWCA of Youngstown, 25 W. Rayen Ave., will offer a variety of tax services for filing 2015 returns.

The YWCA’s website, www.ywca.org, provides a link to file taxes for free.

Individuals that e-file and direct deposit will receive refunds in as little as seven to 10 days. An email account is required to create an account. Those that will file taxes through the link need household income under $65,000 for a single filer or $95,000 for married filer; social security numbers for the filer and any dependents; W2’s, 1099’s or 1098’s; information about other income; deduction and credit information; and a copy of the previous year’s tax return.

The YWCA will also help individuals e-file or paper file taxes for free.

All are welcome from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on walk-in days, Feb. 5, 10 and 19, March 4, 9, 18 and 23, and April 1, 6, 13 and 15.

They will offer a tax clinic, by appointment only, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 20.
