Judge to rule in a week on Youngstown academic commission case


YOUNGSTOWN

Lawyers for the Youngstown City School teachers union, city school board President Brenda Kimble and the Ohio Attorney General's office are snswering questions this afternoon about the definition of teacher.

The case before Judge Lou D'Apolito of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court is hearing arguments in the case brought against Kimble by the teachers union.

Kimble appointed Carol Staten to the school district's academic distress commission.

Staten is a principal. The union argues that the appointment should be a teacher.

The judge said he expects to make a decision in writing by the first of the week.
