Woman shot
YOUNGSTOWN
A Glenmont Avenue man was in the Mahoning County jail, accused of shooting a woman in the buttock. Maurice Jones, 33, was charged with felonious assault. Witnesses told police there was a family party at a house on Matta Avenue early Sunday, and Jones was drinking heavily. He left the party to take his girlfriend home and returned and continued to drink. Witnesses said he became belligerent and pulled a gun from the waistband of his pants and fired around, striking a woman who was in the bathroom in the right buttock. The woman was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngtown Hospital where she was listed in stable condition, according to a police report.
Waterline repaired
BOARDMAN
A water supply line broke Monday on South Avenue, just south of U.S. Route 224, sending repair workers out into the cold. Vindicator broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV, reported workers had to dig several feet to reach the broken pipe. Some customers initially were without water, and others experienced low pressure, the station reported. No boil advisory was issued.
