MLK WEEK | Scheduled events

Here are other events this week tied to the observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and legacy.

Today: 8:30 a.m. to noon, First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., Youngstown, community workshop, “An Examination of Institutionalized Racism.” Keynote presentation by criminal Atty. Walter Madison and a panel discussion with Roy Austin, criminal justice reform advocate; Rebecca Banks, education reform advocate; and Youngstown Councilman Julius Oliver, D-1st.

Thursday: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., Youngstown State University MLK Diversity Breakfast at Kilcawley Center. Speaker is Dr. Emma Fraser Pendleton. Tickets are $20 for the general public and $8.50 for YSU students. For reservations, call 330-941-2087.

Saturday: 3 p.m., Trumbull A. Phillip Randolph Institute MLK Luncheon, Leo’s Ristorante, 7042 Market St., Howland.
