Pa. primary petitions

MERCER, PA.

Petition packets for Republican precinct committee candidates interested in getting their names on the April 26 primary ballot in Mercer County will be available for pickup in the election office beginning Friday. The first day to circulate petitions is Jan. 26.

The deadline to file them in the election office is 4:30 p.m. Feb. 16. All other candidates for state and federal office must obtain their packets from the Pennsylvania Department of State in Harrisburg and file them there. For information, call 724-662-7542.

Pure Earth Paint class planned for Jan. 26

MERCER, PA.

Munnell Run Farm, 753 Greenville Road, will welcome artist Mitzi Dales from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 26 for a class in which participants will use Pure Earth Paint, which contains natural clay, chalk and earth pigments, to refresh furniture. Dales is from the No Place Like Home Consignment Shoppe in Greenville, Pa. Visit homegoodsconsignment.com and click on the store tab to choose a solid Pure Earth color before the class. Cost is $50 and includes all painting materials, instruction and an 8-ounce jar of paint. Participants should take their own medium-sized project, such as end tables, frames or chairs.

Blaze damages house in Newton Falls

NEWTON FALLS

Occupants escaped unharmed from a house in the 2000 block of S. Canal St. that caught on fire about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Firefighters from Newton Falls and Milton Township will still on the scene at 8:30 p.m. The Trumbull County Fire Investigation Unit was called to help determine the cause of the blaze. The amount of damage was unknown Saturday night.
